Historic Texas Cemetery Application Update
On July 1 2009 application was made to the Texas Historical Commission to have the Calf Creek Texas Cemetery designated as a Historic Texas Cemetery. The application was discussed, reviewed and aprooved by the McCulloch County Texas Historical Commission and then forwarded to THC in Austin.

On July 21, the THC made written response to the application requesting higher quality black and white photographs of the cemetery and a copy of the current deed to the cemetery.

Official McCulloch County Texas records reviewed at the county clerk's office and the tax assessors office conflict as to whom actually owns the land containing the Calf Creek Texas Cemetery. This issue was raised and discussed at the Cemetery Association meeting on September 20 at which time members of the Calf Creek COMMUNITY Association stated that their organization had deed to the cemetery land and agreed to disband the Community Association and and turn over assets, including cash and the deed to the cemetery to the Calf Creek CEMETERY Association. The Cemetery Association agreed that all neeeded documentation for transfer of the cemetery land would be provided to Cemetery Association Historian David Deland who would take on the task of transfering the deed to the Cemetery Association and then forward a copy of the new deed to the Texas Historic Commission.

As of December 1, the Cemetery Association Historian has not received the deed and related documentation and, therefore, no additional action has been taken on the Historic Texas Cemetery Application. The McCulloch County Historic Commission was verbally informed and updated with the current status of this project on December 1.

Re: Historic Texas Cemetery Application Update
We have now received the much needed land deed for the Calf Creek Texas Cemetery from the former president of the now disbanded Calf Creek Texas Community Association.

We are now attempting to obtain some high quality black and white 35 MM film so that we can take some more pictures of the cemetery and have those pictures processed in a manner which meets the THC specifications.
